Accessibility TIPS from an AGS MoM/Caregiver & ArCHItect
AGS mom Anais Niembro Garcia reached out to the AGSAA team to offer her help as a volunteer and mentioned that she was an architect. The idea to create a customized home modifications guide using Barrier Free and Universal Design Principles for AGS families of all abilities was soon born and she worked hard to create this special Think ACCESSIBLE guide. Thank you so much for this Anais!
Also be sure to check out Betty & Anais discussing this project and more on The Rare Advocates Podcast episode Designing Accessibility: How an Architect Mom Built a Beginner’s Guide for Rare Disease Caregivers.
Anais would love to keep updating this with our lived experience - if you have a home modification you would like to share with the community, email a.niembrogarcia@gmail.com and she will begin collecting additional images and info to add in future editions. We are also working on a text-only doc that will be easier to run through Google translate as needed and will upload when available.
